Ananias W. Horton was born June 23, 1843, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of Mary Martha "Polly" Horton. He was the grandson of Isaac Horton, Jr. and Mary "Polly" Watts.
Ananias married Mary Jane Johnson December 23, 1862. Mary Jane Johnson was born about 1844, in North Carolina according to census records.
Ananias enlisted in Co. M, 2nd Arkansas Cavalry on January 28, 1864. He was discharged on August 20, 1865 when the war ended.
The 1880 Searcy County, Arkansas census, Bear Creek Township, shows Ananias Horton, 37; Mary, wife, 36; Mary, daughter, 14; Sarah, daughter, 12; Isaac, son, 10; Samuel, son, 7; Andrew, son, 5; and John, son, 2 years old. All the children were born in Arkansas.
Mary died August 11, 1911. Ananias died January 13, 1928.
