Ann E. Bridgman

Ann E. Bridgman was born about 1829, in Campbell County, Tennessee, the daughter of William Bridgman and Mariam Brown.

The 1850 Campbell County, Tennessee census shows 21 year old Ann E. with her parents and siblings.

Ann married William Bruce on March 6, 1856, in Campbell County. William Bruce was born about 1827, in Tennessee, the eldest son of Daniel Bruce and Mary (last name unknown).

The 1840 Campbell County census shows the Daniel Bruce family as one male 40-50; two males 10-15; one female 30-40; two females15-20; one female 5-10 and two females under 5 years old.

The 1850 Campbell County census shows Daniel Bruce, 52, a farmer, real estate valued at $4000, born in South Carolina; Mary, 49, born in Georgia; William, 23, a farmer, born in Tennessee; Willis, 20, a farmer, born in Tennessee (Willis married Ann's younger sister, Nancy Bridgman); Mary, 17, born in Tennessee; Sarah, 14, born in Tennessee; Elizabeth, 9, born in Tennessee; John N., 6, born in Tennessee; and George R., 1, born in Tennessee.

We do not know what happened to Ann. We believe she may have died between the time of her marriage and the time of the 1860 census. It is possible she may have died in childbirth. We have found no record of Ann after her marriage in 1856.

The 1860 Campbell County census, Jacksboro Township, shows William Bruce, 33, a farm laborer living with Olly Queener and her children. It is possible that Olly was William's sister. (You will notice in the 1840 census, there are two unidentified daughters in the family older than William.) We did not find William on the 1870 Campbell County census.
