In the name of God Amen. I Adam Varner of the County of Harrison, State of Kentucky, being weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory for which I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty of life and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath the same in the following manner, that is to say:

I give and bequeath to my wife Elizabeth one horse plow and gear, also as much grain as will supply her one year, also six head of sheep, also all my household and kitchen furniture, also two hoes, also I desire my wife Elizabeth to have the benefit of my farm as long as she remains my widow.

Also I give and bequeath to my son Jacob one dollar;

Also to John one dollar;

Also to William one dollar;

Also to Elizabeth one dollar;

Also to Sarah one dollar;

Also to James one dollar;

Also to Polly one dollar;

Also to Noah one dollar;

And also I desire that after all my debts are paid, whatever may remain of my estate I wish to be applied to schooling my children, namely Joseph and Newton and Minerva and Betsy Ann.

And lastly do hereby constitute and appoint my friend John R. Whitebear (?) executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 23rd day of September in the year of our Lord 1838.
