Rachel Margaret Lucretia "Crete" Crow was born April 1869, in Independence County, Arkansas, the daughter of John Henry Crow and Sarah Jane Rollins.
Rachel married Amos P. James, who was born January 1859, in Arkansas. Amos James was a preacher.
Amos and Crete appear on the 1900 Independence County census in Black River Township. Listed with them on the census are their children Talmage J., age 6; Leroy, age 4; and Sarah J., age 2. Also living with them is Amos' sister, Sarah J. James, age 57 years.
The family appears on the 1910 Independence County census. Listed with Amos and Margaret L. are their children Talmage J., age 16; L. Roy, age 14; Sarah J., age 12; M. Addie, age 8; Margin, age 6; Wreatha, age 5; Archibald H., age 4; and Maude M., age 2 years.
Crete died February 28, 1931.
