Edward Beckham was born May 1845, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of Green Berry Beckham, Jr. and Rebecca Weatherford.
The 1850 Wayne County census shows 7 year old Edward with his parents and siblings.
The Beckham family moved to Jefferson County, Illinois between 1860 and 1862.
Edward married Eliza L. Hester before 1864 according to some records and on February 16, 1872, in Jefferson County according to records provided by James Heidlebaugh. Eliza Hester was born October 1840, in Illinois, according to census records.
The 1880 Jefferson County, Illinois census, McClellan Township, shows Edward Beckham, 36, a farmer; Eliza, 2ife, 39; William, son, 16; Edward, son, 13; James, son, 11; Esterley, daughter, 8; Otis, son, 5; Roy, son, 2; and Victoria, daughter, 3 months old.
The 1900 Jefferson County census, McClellan Township, shows Edward Beckham, 55, born May 1845, married 36 years, a farmer who owned his farm; Eliza L., wife, 59, born October 1840, married 36 years, had given birth to 11 children, 9 children still living; Roy, son, 22, born March 1878, a farm laborer; Nanna J., daughter, 18, born May 1882; and Mary, daughter, 15 years old. Edward's son Otis and his wife were living next door. The census shows Otis Beckham, 24, born July 1875, married 3 years, a farmer who rented his farm; and Nancy E., wife, 25, born January 1875, in Illinois, married 3 years, had given birth to no children.
Edward died in 1913, in Jefferson County, Illinois and is buried in South Hickory Hills Cemetery in Jefferson County.
