James Thomas Edward Jones

James Thomas Edward "Eddie" Jones was born September 7, 1872, near Mountain View, in (present day) Stone County, Arkansas. He was the son of Dockery Berry Giddens Jones and Julia Ann Hess.

Eddie's mother died when he was about four years old. He lived with his grandmother, Sarah Hess, and her family for a time. Eddie's father remarried about seven months after his mother's death. We are unsure when Eddie went to live with his father and step-mother, but he appears on the 1880 Faulkner County, Arkansas, census with them and his half-sister Paralee. Eddie's sister, Eliza, was living with their grandmother Hess at that time.

Eddie's family moved to White County, Arkansas, prior to 1889. Before 1900 they moved to Van Buren County, Arkansas, where they remained.

Eddie married Myra I. Langston on May 12, 1907, in Van Buren County.  Myra Langston was born November 4, 1889, in Arkansas.   She was the eldest of three children born to William Jesse Langston (b. 1857, AR; d. 1926, Van Buren Co, AR) and Mary Francis Wharton (b. 1862, AL; d. 1899, Van Buren Co, AR).   (Note: William Langston and Mary Wharton married on Nov 11, 1883, in Conway Co, AR.)

Eddie and Myra had at least nine children, according to census.

The family appears on the 1910 Van Buren County, Arkansas census, in Culpeper Township.   The census shows Edward Jones, 37, married 3 years, a farmer; Miray, wife, 20, had given birth to 2 children, 1 child was still living, and Troy, son, 2 years old.

The 1920 Van Buren County census shows the family living in Bradley Township.   The census shows James T. Jones, 47, a farmer; Myra E., wife, 30; Troy, son, 11; Lula, daughter, 9; Claud, son, 7; Eula, daughter, 6; Beula, daughter, 4; Bertha, daughter, 2 and Benjamin, son, 10 months old.

The 1930 Van Buren County census, Bradley Township, shows James T. E. Jones, 57, a farmer; Myra I., 40; Troy, 21, a farmer on his father's farm; Lula H., 19; Claud, 17; Eula B., 16; Beulah P., 14; Bertha A., 12; Benjamin G., 11 and Ava Lee, 3 years old. Living with the family was Ralph N. Drake, nephew, 24, a laborer on the farm. Living nearby was Eddie's father and step-mother.

Eddie died August 8, 1938, and is buried in Quattlebaum Cemetery in Van Buren County. Myra died April 15, 1946.
