Emerinthea I. Cypert

Emerinthea I. "Emma" Cypert was born June 14, 1848, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of John Lafayette Cypert and Elizabeth Neal.

Emma married Christopher Columbus Ebenezer Alvarando Stribling on January 15, 1868, in Wayne County. Christopher Stribling was born November 24, 1844, in Lawrence County, Tennessee, the son of Andrew H. Stribling and Sarah Elton. Andrew Stribling was the born in 1816, the son of John Stribling.

Christopher enlisted in the Federal Army at the age of seventeen, and served in Co. F, 12th Regiment of Iowa Mounted Infantry. He was captured with his regiment at Shiloh, where he was imprisoned and exchanged two months later. He was discharged in August 1862. He re-enlisted soon after in Co. A, 2nd Tennessee Mounted Infantry. He served as second lieutenant of his company. Later he joined Co. E, 8th Tennessee Mounted Infantry, and served as post quartermaster until the close of the War.

After the war, Christopher settled in Wayne County, where he married. He served as deputy sheriff for two years. He was elected county court clerk, a position he held for four years until ill health in his family forced him to resign. Later he engaged in a drug and mercantile business at Waynesboro, until 1875. He established the "Wayne Citizen" newspaper in 1874, which he ran until 1875 when he moved to Clifton, in Wayne County. He established the newspaper in Clifton and continued to operate it until 1885. In 1886, he entered into the drug and mercantile business at Clifton.

Emma died February 4, 1875, at Waynesboro, in Wayne County. Christopher then married Amelia A. Waits on November 30, 1876. He and Amelia had five children born at Clifton, Tennessee.
