James Everett Bridgman was born March 25, 1844, in Campbell County, Tennessee, the son of Isaac Bridgman and Jane Butler.
Isaac's family moved from Campbell County, Tennessee, to Walker County, Georgia in 1849. James grew up in Walker County.
The 1850 Walker County census, Chickamauga Township, shows 5 year old James with his parents and siblings.
James father, Isaac, died in August 1859. The 1860 Walker County census, Rock Spring Post Office, shows 15 year old James with his widowed mother and his siblings.
James married Cynthia Barron in 1868, in Walker County. Cynthia Barron was born December 1847, in Tennessee, the daughter of Calvin Barron and Nancy Perkins. Cynthia's sister, Susan Barron, married James Everett's brother, Franklin David Bridgman.
James moved his family to Missouri between about 1876 and 1880.
The 1880 Vernon County, Missouri census, Lake Township, shows James, head, 33, born in Tennessee; Cintha, wife, 32, born in Tennessee; Mary E., daughter, 7, born in Georgia; and Cora A., daughter, 4, born in Georgia. Living with the family was Thomas Bridgman, widowed, 28, born in Tennessee; William S. Bridgman, 5, born in Georgia; Claudius J. Bridgman, 3, born in Georgia; and Vandiveer Bridgman, 10 months, born in Georgia. Thomas was a brother to James Everett.
The 1900 Barry County, Missouri census, town of Exeter, shows James, head, 56, born March 1844, in Tennessee, father and mother born in Virginia, married 33 years, a farmer; Sintha, wife, 53, born December 1847, in Tennessee, father and mother born in Tennessee, married 33 years, given birth to 9 children, 5 children still living; Arra A. E., daughter, 24, born September 1875, in Georgia; John J., son, 18, born February 1882, in Missouri; Eva L., daughter, 15, born December 1884, in Missouri; and Charles E., son, 9, born June 1890, in Missouri.
The 1910 Barry County census shows the family living in Exeter Township. The census shows James E. Bridgman, 66, married 42 years, farmer; Seyntha, wife, 62, had given birth to 9 children, 5 children still living; Aria A., daughter, 34, single, retail dry goods saleslady; Eva L., daughter, 25 and Charles E., son, 19, farm laborer.
James died May 1, 1911, in Exeter, Missouri.
