Franklin "Doc" Bridgman was born about 1872, in Walker County, Georgia, the youngest son of Franklin David Bridgman and Susan Barron.
Doc was about two years old when his mother died. His father remarried the following year. The 1880 Walker County, Georgia census shows 8 year old Franklin with his family.
The 1900 Catoosa County, Georgia census shows Doc Bridgman, born Oct 1875, 24, single, a blacksmith, boarding with John B. Carlock and his wife Mary. Doc's brother James, who died in 1896, had married the Carlock's daughter Phoebe. Phoebe (listed as Ruby on the census) and her two sons were listed as living next to the Carlock family.
Doc married Lillie Wyatt about 1910, in Tennessee. Lillie Wyatt was born December 1887, in Tennessee, the daughter of Samuel B. Wyatt (b. 1858, TN) and Sarah J. C. ___ (b. 1858, TN).
The 1910 Hamilton County, Tennessee census shows D. F. Bridgeman, 34, married less than a year, an engineer at the Y.M.C.A. and Lillie, wife, 22, had no children, born in Tennessee.
The 1920 Hamilton County census shows the family living in Chattanooga. The census shows Doc Bridgeman, 44, building supt.; Lilie, wife, 32 and Glenn, son, 9 years old.
Doc died before 1930, probably in Hamilton County, Tennessee.
The 1930 Hamilton County census, city of Chattanooga shows Lillie Bridgeman, 42, widow, textile maker at knitting mill and her son, Glenn Bridgeman, 19, laborer at knitting mill. They were living with Lillie's mother and sister, Sarah C. Wyatt, 72, widow, machine handler at knitting mill and Norah Wyatt, 46, single, packer at knitting mill. Also living with the family were Sarah's nieces, Adelaide Ramsey, 17, inspector at knitting mill and Frances Ramsey, 15 years old.
