Gertrude Willis was born March 23, 1892, in Indian Territory, the daughter of James Willis and Amy Harmon.
Eight year old Gertrude appears on the 1900 Indian Territory census with her family. She is listed as 18 and single on the 1910 census.
We believe Gertrude married _____ Smith about 1912-1913. We do not know anything about this marriage except it produced a son who was born in 1913.
Gertrude apparently either separated from her husband or he died soon after their marriage. Gertrude is shown to be living at home with her parents in the 1914-1915 Krebs city directory, as well as the city directory for 1916-1917.
Gertrude died July 2, 1917. Funeral home records show her place of residence as Krebs, but her place of death as Hartshorn, in Pittsburg County.

1. James Willis Smith, b. Oct 9, 1913; d. Sept 10, 1993; bur. Oak Hill Cem. in the Willis family plot. His obituary says he served in the U.S. Army and worked for the Army Ammunition Plant. It lists no survivors.
