Hannah Stooksberry

Hannah Stooksberry was born in 1822, in Tennessee, the daughter of Robert "Squire" Stooksberry and Hannah Horton.

Hannah married John Gilbert on June 4, 1846, in Tennessee. John Gilbert was born about 1822, in Tennessee.

The 1850 Anderson County, Tennessee census shows John Gilbert, 28, a farmer; Hannah, 28; and Jane, 3 years old. The family was living near Hannah's parents.

The 1860 Anderson County census shows John Gilbert, 35, a farmer with $350 real property and $150 personal property; Hannah, 34; Jane, 12; Elizabeth, 10; Pleasant, 8; and Parley, 4 years old. The family was living next door to Hannah's brother William Stooksberry and his family. Hannah's mother was living with William and his family.

The 1870 Anderson County census, District 2, Wallace Cross Roads Post Office, shows John Gilbert, 50, a farmer with $300 real property and $246 personal property; Hannah, 48; Jane, 22; Elizabeth, 15; Pleasant, 14, a farm laborer; and Parley, 13 years old. They were living on the farm located between Hannah's brother William Stooksberry and his family and Hannah's sister and brother-n-law, Jane and Samuel Robbins and their family.

The 1880 Anderson County census, District 2, shows John Gilbert, 58, a farmer; Hanah, 61; Elizabeth, 29; and Pleasant, 26, a farmer. Living next door was Hannah's brother, William, and his family.

Hannah died in 1889, in Anderson County, Tennessee and is buried in Sinking Springs Cemetery in Anderson County.
