Hannah Catherine Stanfield was born February 21, 1861, at Chickamauga, in Walker County, Georgia, the only child of Joseph Sampson Lafayette Stanfield and Mary Catherine Bridgman.
Joseph and Mary Catherine both died of yellow fever in 1861, at Pond Springs, in Walker County, Georgia, when Hannah was just an infant. Hannah's grandmother, Jane Bridgman, took the infant Hannah to raise. Jane, however, died the following year. With the death of her grandmother, little Hannah went to live with her great uncle, Miller Creed Butler.
The 1870 Walker County, Georgia census shows Miller C. Butler, 45, farmer, $2730 real property, $800 personal property; wife Mary, 33 and children Phebe, 3; Elizabeth S., 2 and Lydia, 5 months old. Living with the family was Hannah Stanfield, 8 and Hannah's uncle Thomas Bridgman, 21; her aunt Lucinda J. Bridgman, 17; another aunt Emily C. Bridgman, 14 and Mary Butler's mother, Phebe Carlock, 65 years old.
Hannah married George Pearce Glenn in 1879, at Chickamauga, in Walker County. George Glenn was born about 1853, in Georgia, the son of George M. Glenn (b. 1794, Dublin, Ireland; d. 1861, Walker Co, GA) and Mary Susan Pierce (b. 1821, GA; d. 1884, Walker Co).
The 1880 Walker County census, Pond Spring Township, shows George and Hannah living with his mother and step-father. The census shows John H. Todd, 74, a farmer, born in Kentucky; Susan Todd, wife, 50, born in Georgia; George Glenn, step-son, 27, born in Georgia and Hannah Glenn, step-daughter-in-law, 19, born in Georgia.
The 1900 Walker County census, Pond Spring Township, shows George P. Glenn, born Sept 1852, 47, married 21 years, a farmer who owned his farm free of mortgage; Hannah C., wife, born Feb 1861, 39, had given birth to 11 children, 11 children still living; John F., son, born Dec 1880, 19, farm laborer; George L., son, born Apr 1882, 18, farm laborer; Mary L., daughter, born Sept 1883, 16; Maud L., daughter, born June 1885, 14; Herbert, son, born Feb 1887, 13, farm laborer; James C., son, born Nov 1888, 11, farm laborer; Grady P., son, born July 1890, 9; Patsy P., daughter, born Mar 1892, 8; Clifford B., son, born Dec 1893, 6; Vanie B., daughter, born May 1896, 4 and Elder, son, born Oct 1897, 2 years old.
George Glenn died May 16, 1905, in Walker County, Georgia.
The 1910 Walker County census, Pond Spring Township, shows Hanna Glenn, 49, widow, married 30 yrs, had given birth to 12 children, 11 children were still living, farmer; John F., son, 29, single, farm laborer on home farm; James C., son, 21, farm laborer on home farm; Gradey, son, 19, farm laborer on home farm; Patsey, daughter, 17, school teacher; Byron, son, 16, farm laborer on home farm; Belle, daughter, 14 and Elder, son, 12 years old.
The 1920 Walker County census, Chickamauga Township shows Hanna Glenn, 62, widow, grocery merchant; Elder, son, 25, single and Patsy, daughter, 26, single, weaver at cotton mill. Living near Hannah was her son Byron C. Glen, 26, hardware merchant; Gennie L., wife, 23, born in Connecticut and Annie B., daughter, 2 years and 4months, born in Massachusetts.
Hannah died October 29, 1921, in Walker County.
