Ida Mary Harmon was born September 1, 1874, in South Bend, Indiana, the daughter of Wilson Harmon and Elizabeth Endicott. (Part of the family believes her middle name was May.) (The 1880 census says Ida was born in Illinois.)
Between 1875 and 1879, Ida's family left the Indiana/Illiinois area and moved toward Indian Territory of present day Oklahoma.
The Harmon family appears on the 1880 Boone County, Arkansas census in Carrolton Township. Ida is listed as six years old on the census. The family soon moved into Sebastian County, Arkansas.
Ida married William Craig Mouser on July 17, 1890, in Sebastian County, Arkansas. Ida was not yet 16 years old when they married.
William Craig Mouser was born April 1, 1866, in Arkansas, one of twelve children born to Henry Harrison Mouser and Rebecca Emaline Baker. Henry Mouser was born April 3, 1841, in Hempstead County, Arkansas and died February 28, 1907, in Payne County, Oklahoma. Rebecca Baker was born September 22, 1841, in Hempstead County and died October 19, 1911, in Haskell County, Oklahoma. They married August 22, 1858, in Hempstead County. (Only nine of their twelve children were still living in 1900.) Henry and Rebecca's children included: (1) Davis Calhoun Mouser, b. 1859; (2) Phoebe Elizabeth Mouser, b. 1861; (3) George Washington Mouser, b. 1862; (4) Martha Catharine Mouser, b. 1864; (5) William Craig Mouser, b. 1866; (6) Amanda Jane Mouser, b. 1869; (7) Mary Alice Mouser, b. 1872; (8) Lucinda Emaline Mouser, b. 1873; (9) Eleanor "Ellen" Almeda Mouser, b. 1874; (10) Noah Esaias Mouser, b. 1879 and (11) Isaac Martin Mouser, b. 1883.
Prior to 1892, William and Ida moved to Indian Territory (present day Oklahoma), where all their children were born.
The 1900 Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory census shows William C. Mouser, born April 1866, 34, married 10 years, a farmer; Ida M., wife, born September 1873, 26, had given birth to 5 children, 4 children were still living; Esther, daughter, born May 1892, 8; Bernice, daughter, born Feb 1897, 3; Delmer, son, born July 1898, 2 and Callie, daughter, born April 1900, 1 month old. Living near them was Henry and Rebecca Mouser and their family.
The 1910 Haskell County, Oklahoma census shows William C. Mouser, 44, a farmer; Ida M., wife, 35, had given birth to 8 children, 6 children were still living; Bernice M., daughter, 13; Delmer W., son, 11; Callie M., daughter, 9; Alma, daughter, 7 and Noah W., son, 4 years old.
By the 1920 census, the family had moved to the town of Havener, in Curry County, New Mexico. The census shows William C. Mouser, 52, a farmer; Ida M., wife, 44; Esther, daughter, 27; Bernice, daughter, 23; Delmer, son, 21, farmer on home farm; Callie, daughter, 19; Alma, daughter, 16; Noah, son, 14 and Raymond, son, 6 years old.
William died March 4, 1923, in Curry County, New Mexico.
The 1930 Curry County, New Mexico census shows Ida living in the town of Clovis. The census shows Ida Mouser, 53, widowed, doing housework in private homes and Raymond, son, 16 years old.
Ida died at her home in Clovis, New Mexico on March 7, 1954. At the time of her death
We have been told that William and Ida had 11 children, but some died in infancy. We have record of nine children.
