Isaac Stooksberry was born in 1807, in Anderson County, Tennessee. He was the son of Robert "Squire" Stooksberry and Hannah Horton.
Isaac married Sarah "Sally" Loy, who was born in 1808, in Anderson County, the daughter of William John "Fisher" Loy.
The family appears on the 1840 Anderson County census. The census shows one male 30-39; two males 5-9; two males under 5; one female 30-39; one female 5-9 and one female under 5 years old. Living near by were Isaac's parents.
The 1850 Anderson County census, 16th Subdivision, shows Isaac Stuksbury, 45, a farmer with $2200 real property; Sarah, 42; John, 20, a farmer; Robert, 16, a farmer; George, 14, a farmer; Samuel, 12; Nancy, 12; Hannah, 10; Lewis, 6; and Isaac, 3 years old.
Prior to 1860, the family moved from Anderson County to Union County, Tennessee. The 1860 Union County census shows Isaac Stooksbury, 54, a farmer with $3000 real property and $4000 personal property; Sarah, 53; Samuel, 23, a farm hand; Jacob, 19, a farm hand; Lewis, 16, a farm hand; Louisa, 14; and Isaac, 12 years old. Living next door was son George Stooksbury and his wife.
Sarah died August 29, 1867, in Union County, Tennessee and Isaac died August 27, 1868, in Union County. They are both buried in Sinking Springs Cemetery in Anderson County.
