Jacob Stooksberry was born January 6, 1810, in Anderson County, Tennessee. He was the son of Robert "Squire" Stooksberry and Hannah Horton. Jacob was a twin to Samuel.
Jacob married Mahulda Craig, who was born May 3, 1822.
The 1840 Anderson County, Tennessee census shows one male 20-29; one male under 5 and one female 15-19 years old.
The 1860 Union County, Tennessee census shows the family living in the 9th Civil District. The census shows Jacob Stukesbury, 47, a farmer with $1200 real property and $1200 personal property; Mahulda, 39; Rubin, 22, a farm hand; Samuel, 18, a farm hand; Alvis, 15, a farm hand; Robert, 12; Rufus, 10; Parlia, 8; Orleana, 5; Louisa, 3; and Pharo, 5 months old. Living nearby was their son Reuben Craig and his family.
The 1870 Union County census, 9th District, shows Jacob Stukesbury, 55, a farmer with $3000 real property and $1200 personal property; Hulda, 48; Robert, 22, a farm laborer with $300 personal property; Rufus, 19, a farm laborer; Parley, 17; Orlena, 15; Luisey J., 13; Pharough, 10; and Hasey L., 6 years old. Living next door was their son Reuben Craig Stooksberry and his family.
The 1880 Union County, Tennessee census, District 9, shows Jacob Stookesberry, 69, a farmer; Mahulda, 58; Robert, 32, farm worker; Rufus, 29, store clerk; Louiza Jane, 21; Pharoah, 18; and Hazey L., 15 years old. Living next door to them was their son Alvis and family. Living nearby was their son Reuben and family.
Jacob died January 23, 1892, in Union County, Tennessee. Mahulda died February 13, 1907, in Union County. They are both buried in New Loyston Cemetery in Union County.
