Jane Maxey was born about 1804, probably in Franklin County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Hail Maxey and Dicey Craighead.
Jane's family moved to Georgia about 1800, settling in Oglethorpe County.
Jane married John Jacks on August 15, 1817, in Oglethorpe County. John Jacks was born in 1799, in Union County, South Carolina.
John and Jane settled in Clarke County, Georgia, where eleven of their children were born. About 1835-1838, they moved their family to Coosa County, Alabama.
Jane died August 1, 1850, at Rockford, in Coosa County, Alabama. John died there on November 3, 1870.
