James Wayne Stanfield was born August 23, 1857, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of Thomas Peyton Stanfield and Comfort Annis Woody.
James married Fair Eleanor Christine Craine on March 2, 1885, at Booneville, in Logan County, Arkansas. Fair Craine was the daughter of Jeremiah Craine and Narcissa Walton.
James died May 5, 1920, at Booneville.
