The 1900 Jefferson County censu, Elk Prairie Township, shows James Beckham, 50, born June 1849, married 31 years, a farmer who owned his farm; Edwina, wife, 49, born March 1851, married 31 years, had given birth to 6 children, 5 children still living; Etta, daughter, 15, born February 1885; and Morton, son, 10, born April 1890. Living near James was his brother Joel.
James died March 13, 1902, in Jefferson County, Illinois and is buried in South Hickory Hills Cemetery in Jefferson County.
