James Christopher Abel was born May 12, 1818, in Knox County, Tennessee, the son of John David Abel and Lenny Ann Harner.
James married Annie Hinds on February 15, 1838, in Roane County, Tennessee. Annie Hinds was born May 4, 1813, the daughter of Joseph Sylvanus Hinds and Susannah Hankins.
James and Annie had five children. Annie died October 8, 1848, in Dallas County, Missouri.
James married Sarah Elmyra Stacey about 1850. Sarah Stacey was born July 23, 1825.
James and Sarah had four children. Sarah died November 4, 1886, in Roane County, Tennessee.
We have been told James also married Margaret Gillespie and Eliza Cockel. We have not record of children born to these unions.
