Martha Ann Jemima Bridgman was born July 29, 1852, in Missouri, the daughter of John Washington Bridgman and Lucinda Gibson.
Martha Ann married Chauncey H. Graves on January 11, 1872, in Holt County, Missouri. Chauncey Graves was born June 9, 1845, in Morgan County, Illinois, the son of Samuel L. Graves (b. 1815, KY) and Frances A. (last name unknown - b. abt 1818, KY).
The 1870 Holt County, Missouri census shows Chancy Graves, 27, blacksmith, living very near the John W. Bridgman family. Martha Ann is listed as Jemima on the 1870 census.
The 1880 Holt County census, Bigelow Township, shows C. H. Graves, 34, a blacksmith; M. A., wife, 25; Saml. C., son, 3 and Clyd. L., son, 1 year old.
The 1910 Holt County, Missouri shows the couple living in Mound City. The census shows Channcey H. Graves, 64, married 37 years, city collector and Maria M., wife, 55, had given birth to 4 children, 2 children were still living.
The couple was still living in Mound City at the time of the 1920 census. The census shows Chauncey Graves, 75 and Martha, 69 years old.
The 1930 census shows the couple living in Mound City. The census shows Chauncey H. Graves, 84 and Martha, 77 years of age.
Chauncey died February 10, 1934, at Mound City. Martha Ann died there on April 6, 1943.
