Jeremiah Branham was born September 16, 1847, in Blount County, Alabama. He was the son of William Branham and Arenna R. (last name unknown). Jeremiah was listed as "Jerry" on severak census records.
Jeremiah was listed with his parents and siblings on the 1850 Blount County, Alabama census. The census shows William Branham, 38, farmer; Arenna, 38; Susan, 17; Frances, 15; Jenney, 14; Uriah, 10; James, 8, Lucinda, 6, and Jeremiah 4 years old.

William Branham moved his family to Searcy County, Arkansas in late 1860 or early 1861. In November 1861, Jeremiah's brother James Lacey Branham enlisted as a Confederate soldier at Wiley's Cove, in Searcy County. William Branham paid a poll tax in 1862 in Searcy County. Sometime prior to 1865, William moved his family to Illinois.
The family was in Macon County, Illinois when Jeremiah's sister, Lucinda Branham, married on September 6, 1865.
Prior to May 1868, William and Arenna traveled back to Alabama with at least two of their children. They appear on the 1870 Blount County census with children Rolen and Samantha Elizabeth. Jeremiah returned to Alabama with them.
Jeremiah married Anne Osborn in April 1870, probably in Alabama. Anne Osborn was born about 1852, in Missouri or Illinois. She was the daughter of Easom Osborn and Sarah Ann (last name unknown). Anne's sister, Eliza Jane Osborn married Jeremiah's brother, James Lacey Branham. (Note: The 1860 census shows Anne was born in Missouri, the 1870 and 1880 census shows she was born in Illinois.) Anne's family moved from Missouri to Illinois about 1852-1853, then to Alabama prior to 1870.)
The 1870 Colbert County, Alabama census shows Jerry Branham, 21, a wood chopper, married in April of that year, and Anna, 18, born in Illinois. The census was dated July 8, 1870. The couple was living very near Anne's father Easom Osborn.
Jeremiah and Anne returned to Illinois soon after the 1870 census was taken. Their first child was born about 1871, in Illinois.
The 1880 Fayette County, Illinois census shows the family living in Sharon Township. The census shows Jerry Brenem, 27, a farmer; Annie, 23; Sarah, 10; William, 8; James, 5 and Oscar, 1 year old.
We have been unable to locate the family after 1880.
(One family member told us that James Lacey Branham had a brother they called "Jake" who eventually settled in Missouri. We are not sure of the accuracy of that information, however.)
