John William Cypert was born July 19, 1858, at Mtn. Home, Baxter County, Arkansas, the son of Newton Anderson Cypert and Nancy Elizabeth Cooper.
John's mother died when he was about two years old, and he lived with his grandparents, John William Cypert and Nancy Anderson for a time. When John was about four or five, he witnessed the torture and death of his grandmother, Nancy Anderson Cypert during the Civil War.
John married Phoebe Mary Adeline Jones on September 18, 1885, at Clinton, in Van Buren County, Arkansas. Phoebe Jones was born May 31, 1868, at Cave City, Independence County, Arkansas, the daughter of James Seburn Jones and Naomi Tennessee Barnes.
John was a farmer. He lived several years in Stone County, Arkansas. John died January 12, 1937, in Yuma, Arizona. Phoebe died there on December 18, 1937. They are buried in Yuma Valley Cemetery, at Yuma.
