John Washington Bridgman, Jr. was born April 5, 1847, in Buchanan County, Missouri. He was the son of John Washington Bridgman and Lucinda Gibson.
The 1860 Holt County, Missouri census shows twelve year old John at home with his parents and siblings.
John married Mary Jane Notley on August 15, 1867, in Holt County, Missouri. Mary Jane Notley was born June 12, 1847, in Tennessee. She was the daughter of Robert N. Notley and Mary Garmon.
Robert Notley was born May 17, 1813, in Ireland and died June 9, 1898, in Holt County, Missouri. Mary Garmon was born 1820, in Tennessee and died April 5, 1869, in Holt County. Robert married Ann LeDuke in 1869, after the death of Mary. Robert and Mary's children included: (1) William J. Notley, b. 1842, TN; (2) John Peter Notley, b. 1844, TN; (3) Mary Jane Notley, b. 1847, TN; (4) Robert N. Notley, Jr., b. 1850, TN; (5) Lewis Edward Notley, b. 1853, IL; (6) Lemon "Simon" Wesley Notley, b. 1856, IL; m. Dora Alice Bridgman (sister to John Washington, Jr.); (7) James Buchanan Notley, b. 1857, IL and (8) Samuel Houston Notley, b. 1863, TX.
The 1870 Holt County census shows John Bridgman, 23, farmer, $500 real property; Mary J., 23 and George H., 2 years old.
According to information provided by Merri Vinton, John and Mary Jane had a son and adopted a daughter.
The 1880 Holt County, Missouri census shows the family living at Bigelow. The census shows J. W. Bridgman, 33, farmer; Mary J., wife, 33; George, son, 11 and Armilda, daughter, 6 years old. They were living next door to the family of John Chuning. John Chuning's wife Emily was a cousin to John Washington.
Mary Jane died about 1898, in Holt County.
John appears on the 1900 Richardson County, Nebraska census. The census shows John Alexander, born March 1863, 37, married less than one year, born in Illinois, a barber; Minnie Alexander, wife, born Dec 1878, 21, married less than one year, no children, born in Kansas; John W. Bridgeman, boarder, born April 1847, 53, widowed, born in Missouri, a drugist. We believe Minnie was John's daughter.
John married Margaret "Maggie" Clark on May 22, 1906, in Richardson County, Nevada. Maggie was born about 1854, in Indiana, according to census.
The 1910 Richardson County, Nebraska census shows the couple living in Falls City Ward 1. The census shows John W. Bridgman, 63, married 2 times, married 4 years, bartender in saloon and Maggie, wife, 56, married 2 times, had given birth to 12 children, 9 children were still living.
Maggie died in 1912.
The 1920 Platte County, Wyoming census shows J. W. Bridgmon, 72, widowed, born in Missouri, father born in Virginia, mother born in Tennessee, a farmer.
John died March 16, 1927, in Holt County, Missouri.
