Revolutionary War Pension Application

State of Tennessee) On this 22nd day of May 1818 before said Archibald Roane
Knox County ) of the judges of the Supreme Court of Errors and Appeals
  aforesaid State, personally appears Isaac Horton, age fifty-nine years, resident of the County of Anderson in Said State, who being by me first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the provision of the late act of Congress entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in the land and naval service of the United States in the Revolutionary War. That he the said Isaac Horton on the 30th day of March 1781 enlisted in the service of the United States in the Continental service in the State of Massachusetts in the Company commanded by Captain Pillsbury of the 6th Massachusetts Regiment. That he continued in the said services of the United States until about Christmas in the year of 1783 when he was honorably discharged from said service at West Point--that he served the United States faithfully during said time, that he was in no battle, that he was left as a Boatman for the purpose of transporting men, officers and orders from West Point to New Windsor and Newbery, New York--That he was discharged by Captain Williams who was then commanded by General Know (?)--that he has lost his discharge by fi__. That he has no other evidence of his said services now in his power. That he never has been a pensioner. That he does hereby relinquish all claims whatever to pensions heretofore provided except by the act above allowed to--That he is in low circumstances and needs the aid of his Country for support.

On the same day also appeared John Gibbs, Esquire, of said Anderson County, a neighbor of said Isaac Horton for the last ten years and has often heard said Isaac state respecting his Revolutionary services before the passage of the late act of Congress spoken of--That said Horton is in low circumstances.
