Margaret Abel was born June 12, 1808, in Wythe County, Virginia. She was the daughter of John David Abel and Ann Harner.
Margaret's family moved to Knox County, Tennessee prior to 1812. They remained in Knox County until about 1820, at which time they moved to Roane County, Tennessee.
Margaret married Calvin Newport on May 29, 1828, in Rhea County, Tennesse. Calvin Newport was born June 15, 1806, in Tennessee. Calvin was a Baptist minister.
Prior to 1830, he settled his family in Roane County, Tennessee. The 1830 Roane County census shows Calvin Newport, a male 20-29; one male under 5; and one female (Margaret) 20-29 years of age.
The family moved to Pulaski County, Missouri about 1837. The 1840 Pulaski County census shows Calvin Newport, a male 30-39; one male 10-14; one male 5-9; one female (Margaret) 30-39; one female 5-9; and one female under the age of 5 years.
Calvin Newport died October 10, 1840, at Marshfield, in Dallas (now Webster) County, Missouri. He is buried in Shelds-Corinth Cemetery at Marshfield.
Margaret married Nathaniel Wollard in 1841, probably in Pulaski County. Nathaniel Wollard was born 1792, in North Carolina. Nathaniel was also a Baptist minister.
The 1850 Dallas County, Missouri census shows Nathaniel Wollard, 57, a farmer, $2000 real property; Margret, 42; David J. Newport, 18, a farmer; Mary J. Newport, 13; Aez M. Newport, 9; Nathaniel J. Wollard, 5; Silas B. Wollard, 3; and James M. R. Wollard, 1 year old. Living next to them was Margaret's eldest son, Richard Newport, 20, a farmer, $300 real property, and his wife, Delila B., 18 years of age.
The 1860 Dallas County census shows Nathaniel Wollard, 67, a farmer, $2000 real property; Margaret, 52; Nathaniel, 15; Silas B., 13; and James M. R., 11 years old. Listed with the family was Isac M. Crawford, 19, a farm hand; and Franses D. Welch, a 10 year old female, both born in Missouri.
Nathaniel Wollard died in 1863, in Dallas County.
On December 17, 1872, in Dallas County, Margaret married for a third time. She married Joseph Calvin.
The 1880 Dallas County census shows Margaret Cavin, 72, widow, living alone.
Margaret died March 6, 1893, in Dallas County.
