Mary "Polly" Cypert was born about 1812, in Tennessee, the daughter of John William Cypert and Nancy Anderson.
Mary married Tidings Thompson in 1849, in Wayne County, Tennessee. Tidings Thompson was born about 1807, in North Carolina. He first married Elender King, in Wayne County. Elender and Tidings had eight children. Elender died January 28, 1849, probably in Wayne County.
Mary and Tidings moved from Wayne County, Tennessee, to Searcy County, Arkansas, in the fall of 1850. They raised their family of six children in Searcy County. Tidings and Mary operated a mercantile store in Searcy County for some years. Tidings also served about 12 years as the elected Searcy County Treasurer. He was also a preacher.
Mary died about 1876, in Searcy County. Tidings married Sarah Minerva White Tilley in 1877. Tidings died about 1887.
