Martha Della Hess was born March 10, 1874, at Marcella, in Stone County, Arkansas, the daughter of William T. Hess and Colestine Simpson.
Martha married Newton H. Spivey on December 9, 1890, in Stone County. Martha was 16 and Newton was 32 when they married.
Information given to me by Pauline Pierce says there is a story that Newton Spivey died in a gunfight on the streets of Dardanelle, Yell County, Arkansas, before the birth of their child. Pauline indicates that she has found no proof of this, however.
Martha married John "L" Alonzo McIntire on October 31, 1892, in Dallas County, Texas. John McIntire was the son of James A. McIntire. John McIntire had been married and had three known children from his first marriage.
Martha died November 14, 1903, in Dallas County, Texas, and is buried in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, at Sachse, in Dallas County, Texas. .
