Margaret Rebecca Emaline "Emma" Greeson was born about 1861, in Hardin County, Tennessee. She was the daughter of David C. Greeson and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Berry.
Emma married John A. Lutts about 1879. John Lutts was born December 1856, in Tennessee. John Lutts was the son of Adam Alexander Lutts and Mariah Martin. Adam Lutts was born about 1798, in Lincoln County, North Carolina and died about 1865, in Hardin County, Tennessee. Mariah Martin was born about 1804, in South Carolina and died about 1852, in Hardin County.
The 1880 Hardin County, Tennessee census, District 7, shows John A. Lutts, 24, a farmer, born in Tennessee; Margaret R. E., 18; and William M., 1 month old.
John and Emma raised their children at Lutts, in the southwest corner of Wayne County. John Lutts operated the first water powered saw mill that was located at Lutts.
John Lutts' brother, Alexander Lutts, married Margaret Caroline Weatherford, a daughter of Joel Weatherford. Joel Weatherford was a brother to Emma Greeson's grandmother, Sarah Weatherford, who married William Berry. Alexander Lutts was a doctor. The community of Lutts was named in honor of Dr. Alexander Lutts.
