Mary Eliza Crow was born July 7, 1848, in Guilford County, North Carolina, the daughter of John Henry Crow and Sarah Jane Rollins. Eliza's headstone shows her year of birth as 1851. We know this is not correct, as she appears on the 1850 census.
Mary Eliza, age 2 years, appears with her family on the 1850 Guilford County census. She is shown to be 10 years old on the 1860 Independence County, Arkansas, census.
Eliza married John Amos Kibbe (Kibby) on January 21, 1874, in Independence County. John Kibbe was born March 10, 1854, in Missouri.
John and Eliza appear on the 1880 Independence County census, living in Barren Township with their 3 year old son John.
The 1900 Sharp County, Arkansas, census shows John Amos, Mary Eliza, and children Florence, age 18; Robert, age 16; Margaret, age 13; and Veronda, age 11, living in Cave Township. The census shows that Eliza had given birth to 7 children, but only 5 were still living.
The 1910 Independence County census shows Eliza, age 59, living in Barren Township. Her daughter, Christine, age 23, was living with her. John is listed on the Sharp County census, living with their daughter and son-in-law, Jasper and Florence Allen, in Cave Township.
Eliza died April 26, 1917, in Independence County. She is buried in the Cave City Cemetery. John died June 21, 1951, and is also buried in the Cave City Cemetery.
