Martin Cook Greeson was born November 3, 1866, at Gillis Mills, in Hardin County, Tennessee. He was the son of David C. Greeson and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Berry.
Cook Greeson married Mary E. Daniel on December 19, 1889, in Wayne County, Tennessee. Mary was born October 24, 1872 and died January 6, 1892, in Wayne County. No children were born to this union.
Cook then married Cynthia Elizabeth Roxanna Copeland on February 24, 1892, in Wayne County. "Roxie" Copeland, born October 6, 1873, in Wayne County, was the daughter of Jonathan B. Copeland and Sarah Elizabeth Sinclair. Jonathan B. Copeland, born January 16, 1845, near Lutts, in Wayne County and died January 1, 1908, in Wayne County, was the son of Thomas S. Copeland and Martha Qualls. Sarah Sinclair, born March 15, 1840, near Lutts, in Wayne County, was the daughter of William Sinclair (born 1794, in Ireland; died 1857) and Mary M. Oates (born 1811; died 1896).
Records show that in 1907, Martin Cook Greeson filed a claim in the U. S. Court of Claims, in an attempt to establish his Cherokee Indian ancestry. The application shows he was living in Hardin County, Tennessee, at that time. The application was denied.
In 1908, Cook and his family moved to Roosevelt County, New Mexico. Roxie's mother, Sarah Elizabeth Copeland, moved with them. Sarah Copeland died in New Mexico and is buried there. About 1911, Cook and his family moved to Mannsville, in Johnston County, Oklahoma.
Cook Greeson died August 14, 1914, near Mannsville, in Johnson County, Oklahoma. Roxie died September 5, 1926 and is buried beside Cook in the Mannsville Cemetery.
