Mary Elizabeth Bridgman was born January 10, 1886, in Walker County, Georgia, the daughter of Franklin David Bridgman and Margaret Ann Hall.
Mary was only three years old when her father died in 1989. The 1900 Walker County, Georgia census shows 18 year old Mary living at home with her widowed mother and her siblings. She was working at a cotton mill, as did many members of her family.
Mary Elizabeth married Rudy Columbus Pollard on April 11, 1907, in Walker County, Georgia. Rudy Pollard was born January 1882, in Georgia, the son of Columbus Pollard (b. May 1842, GA) and Lucinda (last name unknown) (b. Apr 1850, GA).
The 1910 Walker County census shows Rudy Pollard, 24, married 3 years, section hand at cotton mill and Mary Pollard, 25, boarding, with Mary's brother Thomas C. Bridgman and his family.
The 1920 Chattanooga County, Georgia census shows Rudy Pollard, 35, card grinder at cotton mill; Mary E., wife, 35 and Roy D., son, 7 years old. They were listed next to Mary's sister Annie and husband Oliver O. Newsome.
The family was still living in Chattanooga County, Georgia in 1930. The census shows Rudy Pollard, 46, oiler at cotton mill; Mary, wife, 46; Roy, son, 17, doffer at cotton mill and Archibald, son, 9 years old. Living very near them was Mary's niece Eva Fuller, 35, widow, cloth trimmer at cotton mill; Eva's children Dewitt, 19, weaver at cotton mill and Granelle, 10 years old. Living with Eva was her mother (Mary's sister) Susan Plaster, 53, widow, making sacks at cotton mill.
Rudy died 1933, in Georgia. Mary died February 17, 1945, in Georgia.
