Meda McClure Horton

Meda McClure Horton was born March 1, 1914, at Una, in Searcy County, Arkansas, the daughter of Will Horton and Effie Harmon.

Meda married Joe Galen Henson on December 25, 1945, in Conway County, Arkansas. Joe Henson was born January 25, 1900.

Before Meda and Joe married, Joe ran the Street Car Cafe, which was located in a railroad caboose on North Moose Street in Morrilton, Conway County.

After their marriage, Meda and Joe moved to Oregon for a couple of years in the late 1940's. They returned to Conway County about 1949 and bought a grocery store on the highway on the west end of Morrilton. They named the store Sheneeda Grocery, meaning "she need a this, she need a that". They ran the store only a couple of years, however, before selling it. They bought a house on St. Vincent Street, where they lived most of the remainder of their lives. Meda worked at Crompton Arkansas Oil Mill at Morrilton for a number of years. Joe had four children from a previous marriage: (1) Bill Ed Henson, married Sarah Kathryn Poindexter; (2) Nina Henson, married Faril Simpson; (3) Rosaline Henson, married Jim Halbert; and (4) Ronald Carroll Henson, married Mary Grace Falzon. Joe and Meda had no children.

Joe died May 12, 1973. Meda died July 25, 1987. They are buried in Elmwood Cemetery at Morrilton.
