Minor Scarlett Shipley

Minor Scarlett Shipley was born March 16, 1865, in Van Buren County, Arkansas, the son of James H. Shipley and Mary Elen (Scarlett) McClure.

Minor appears on the 1870 Van Buren County, Arkansas census. The census shows James H. Shipley, 51; Mary, 33, Sarah, 10; Lodeska, (they are Minor's half sisters); Minor, 5; Nancy P., 3; and Amanda E., age 2 months.

 Minor's family moved to Texas, between about 1876 and 1878.

The 1880 Bell County, Texas census, Precinct 4, shows James, age 59; Mary, age 43; Minor, 15; Nancy, 13; Eva, 10; and Etta, 8.

Minor married Annie P. Malicott about 1887, in Texas. Annie Malicott was born March 1871, in Texas, according to census records.

The 1900 Bell County census, Precinct 4, shows Minor, 37, born March 1863, in Texas, married 13 years, a farmer; Annie P., 29, born March 1871, in Texas, married 13 years, had given birth to 4 children, 4 children still living; Thomas J., son, 10, born August 1889, in Texas; James, son, 8, born August 1891, in Texas; Ora M., daughter, 5, born December 1894, in Texas; and Cora M., daughter, 3, born July 1897, in Texas.

Minor died in 1904, in Texas. He is buried in the Rogers Cemetery in Bell County, Texas. Annie is also buried in the Rogers Cemetery in Bell County.
