Mary Rose Morrow was born August 22, 1842, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the daughter of John Morrow and Elizabeth Worthen Cypert.
Mary married John Martin Morrow on September 7, 1869, in Wayne County. John Morrow was born in 1833, in Wayne County, the son of James Morrow and Martha Martin. Mary and John were first cousins. Mary's father, John and John's father, James were brothers.
John served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was a member of the 9th Calvary under Col. Biffle, with Nathan Bedford Forrest. He was a farmer and a mail carrier.
John died August 16, 1886, in Wayne County. He is buried in the Kea Cemetery in Wayne County. Mary died May 6, 1905, at Waynesboro, in Wayne County. She is buried in the Morrow-Downing Cemetery on Indian Creek in Wayne County.
