Polly Brown Will

 

I, Polly Brown of Wythe County, Virginia now having arrived to aged years and attended with bodily infirmity but of sound mind and disposing memory for which I acknowledge the blessing of God and being mindful of the uncertainty of human life and desirous of disposing of all such worldly estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I do hereby make and constitute this my last will and testament in manner and form following

1st     I give to my son John Brown one dollar.

2nd    I give to my daughter Mariam Bridgeman one dollar.

3rd     I give to my daughter Hannah Harrel one dollar.

4th     I give to my daughter Betsy Black one dollar.

5th     I give to my son James Brown one dollar.

6th     I give to my daughter Sally Pierce one dollar.

7th     I give to my daughter Polly Davis one dollar.

8th     I give to my daughter Jane Bridgeman one dollar.

9th     I give to my son Aaron Brown the one half of the sheep which I may own at my death also one feather bed and bedstead also one poplar chest and one arm chair.

10th   After all my just debts and funeral expenses are paid the balance of my estate of whatsoever nature or kind it may be at my decease I give to my daughter Nancy Brown constrting principally of stock household and kitchen furniture and goods and chattle of every description or kind without an appraisement or sale.

11th   and lastly I constitute and appoint my son Aaron Brown executor to carry into effect this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others.   No bond or security will be required of my executor in testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this 14th day of Feb 1829.

Virginia.   At a Court held for Wythe County at the Courthouse on Monday the 11th day of May 1835.

This the last will and testament of Polly Brown decd was presented in Court proved by the oaths of Anderson Howard & John Caffee subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded.    And the said Polly Brown having directed by her said will that no security shall be given by the executor named in said will who took the oath required by law certificate is granted him for obtaining probate of said will in due form.

Mary Brown Inventory

An inventory of the personal estate of Mary Brown deceased.    To wit

(list of items inventoried followed)

I do hereby certify that to the best of my knowledge the above Inventory is a true statement of the personal estate of Mary Brown decd except a few articles of cupboard ware and her wearing apparel.
