Pearl Mae Walker was born January 17, 1900, at Tilly, in Pope County, Arkansas, the daughter of Richard Walker and Almeda Harmon.
Pearl married James Drew Blackhawk "Short" Dixon. Short Dixon, born January 5, 1896, was full blood Indian and an orphan. Short and his brother were in an orphanage in Oklahoma and ran away and joined a circus at a very young age.
At one time Short and Pearl had a traveling medicine show. They had 9 children, but only 5 lived to adulthood.
Pearl died June 11, 1974, at Little Rock, Arkansas, and is buried in National Cemetery at Little Rock. Short died November 1986, at Little Rock and is also buried in National Cemetery.
