Robert Kimmons Archer was born February 24, 1868, at Bigelow, in Holt County, Missouri. He was the son of William Archer and Sarah Elizabeth Ross.
Robert's mother died less than 2 months after Robert's birth, possibly from complications from the birth. Robert's father left Robert in the care of his aunt and uncle, Nancy Ann and George McKee. Nancy was a sister to Robert's mother. He appears with the McKee family on the 1870 Atchison County, Missouri census. The census shows George McKee, 40, farmer, $4375 real property, $1620 personal property, born in Ohio; Nancy A., 35, born in Tennessee; Sarah J., 17; Rachel, 15; Mary E., 12; Martha F., 10; Lucinda, 8; Louisa A., 8; Sophronia, 5; Eugenia, 2 and Robert K. Archer, 2 years old. All the children were born in Missouri.
Robert married Ada Gertrude Criss on February 25, 1892, in Nodaway County, Missouri. Ada Criss was born October 12, 1875, in Illinois, the daughter of Daniel Criss and Ella McCormick.
About 1900 Robert moved his family to Iowa. The 1900 Taylor County, Iowa census shows Robert Archer, born Feb. 1868, 32, married 8 years, a farmer who rented his farm; Ada G., wife, born Oct. 1874, 25, had given birth to 4 children, 4 children were still living; Gertrude A., daughter, born Dec. 1892, 7; Hazel E., daughter, born Feb. 1895, 5; Robert E., son, born Jan. 1897, 3 and Tina M., daughter, born Feb. 1899, 1 year old. Living with the family was Ada's sister, Jessie M. Criss, born May 1884, 16 years old.
The family returned to Missouri before the birth of their son Glen in May 1901.
Ada died April 14, 1909, in Nodaway County, Missouri.
The 1910 Nodaway County, Missouri census shows Robert K. Archer, 42, widowed, a farmer who rented his farm; Gertrude A., daughter, 17; Hazel E., daughter, 15; Everett R., son, 13; Tina M., daughter, 11; Glen O., son, 8 and Minnie O., daughter, 6 years old. Living with the family and helping Robert with the children was his brother John F. Archer, 48, single.
Robert married again prior to 1920. The 1920 Nodaway County census shows Robert T. Archer, 51, a farmer; Anna F., wife, 50, born in Illinois, father born in Canada, mother born in Ireland; Glenn, son, 18; Minnie, daughter, 16 and George B. Bender, step-son, 18, born in Missouri.
Robert died May 26, 1930, in Missouri.
