Sarah Maxey was born September 30, 1793, in Franklin County, Virginia, the daughter of Hail Maxey and Dicey Craighead.
Sarah's family moved to Georgia about 1800, settling in Oglethorpe County.
Sarah married Amos Shaw on June 25, 1812, in Oglethorpe County. Amos Shaw was born December 18, 1789, in Greene County, Georgia.
Amos and Sarah raised their family in Oglethorpe County.
Amos died August 20, 1859, at McLemores Cove, in Walker County, Georgia. Sarah died in Walker County in 1868.
