Susan Jane Bridgman

Susan Jane Bridgman was born February 18, 1876, in Walker County, Georgia, eldest child of Franklin David Bridgman and Margaret "Mary" Ann Hall.

Five year old Susan appears with her family on the 1880 Walker County, Georgia census.

Susan married John Alexander Plaster on July 3, 1890, in Walker County, at the age of 14 years. 

John Plaster was born July 1871, in Georgia, the son of Michael J. Plaster and Elizabeth L. "Eve" Osborne.

  Michael Plaster was born May 1849, in Georgia.  Eve Osborne was born  January 27, 1851, in Walker County, Georgia.   Their children included: (1) John Alexander Plaster, b. 1871, GA; (2) Alice Plaster, b. abt 1873, GA; (3) Asa Plaster, b. abt 1875, GA; (4) Louis Plaster, b. abt 1877, GA; (5) Mary J. Plaster, b. 1881, GA; (6) Judson C. Plaster, b. 1882, GA and (7) Robert C. Plaster, b. 1886, GA.

The 1900 Walker County, Georgia census shows the famil living in Crawfish Springs District.  The census shows John Plaster, born July 1871, 28, married 10 years, a farmer who rented his farm: Susan J., wife, born Feb 1876, 24, had given birth to 3 children, 3 children were still living; Jesse, son, born Jan 1892, 8; Eva, daughter, born Mar 1895, 5 and Maggie, daughter, born Nov 1898, 1 year old.  Listed next to John's family were his parents, Michael J. Plaster, born May 1849, 51, married 30 years, a farmer who owned his farm; Eve L., wife, born Oct 1850, 49, had given birth to 7 children, 7 children were still living; Mary J., daughter, born Mar 1881, 19; Judson C., son, born Nov 1882, 17, farm laborer and Robert C., son, born Aug 1886, 13, farm laborer.

John died in 1902, in Walker County. 

The 1910 Walker County census shows  Susie J. Plaster, 34, widow, had given birth to 3 children, 2 children were still living, weaver at cotton mill; Jessie, son, 19, laborer at ore mill and Maggie, daughter, 11 years old.  Susan was listed next to her brother, Thomas C. Bridgman and his family.  Living with Thomas' family was their sister Mary and her husband Rudy Pollard.  (This census is incorrect because all three of Susie's children were living at that time.)

In 1920 Susan was living with her son Jesse and his family.  The 1920 Fulton County, Georgia census shows James M. Plaster, 37, card grinder at cotton mill; Applen, wife, 28; Edna, daughter, 3 and  Marjorie, daughter, 1 year old.  Living with them was Susan Plaster, mother, 43, widow and Maggie Plaster, sister, 21, worked at cotton mill. 

In 1930 Susan was living with her daughter Eva and her children.   The 1930  Chattooga County, Georgia census shows Eva Fuller, 35, widow, married at 14, cloth trimmer at cotton mill; Dewitt, son, 19, weaver at cotton mill and Granelle, daughter, 10 years old.  Living with them was her mother Susan Plaster, 53, widow, married at 14, makes sacks at cotton mill.

Susan died February 12, 1948, in Chattanooga County, Georgia.
