Stephen H. Horton was born February 1857, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of William Melvin Horton and Arenna Jane Thornton.
Stephen married Amanda Cypert on December 6, 1875, in Wayne County, Tennessee. Amanda Cypert was born about 1855, in Tennessee, the daughter of Robert S. Cypert and Mary Farris. Amanda's sister, Eliza Cypert, married Stephen's brother, Josiah Gale Horton.
Stephen Horton was a doctor.
Amanda died about 1888, in Tennessee. Stephen then married Edna Melson on August 31, 1889, in Wayne County.
