Thomas Perry Cypert was born March 7, 1820, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of Jesse Newton Cypert and Jemima Worthen.
Thomas married Temperance Lynn Brown about 1840, in Wayne County. Temperance Brown was born October 16, 1825, in North Carolina, the daughter of Levi Brown and Mary A. Lynn.
Thomas and Temperance settled in Wayne County to begin their family. Thomas served as a Justice of the Peace in Wayne County. Thomas moved his family to Arkansas in late 1851, or in 1852. He settled in Izard County.
Thomas joined the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He served in the 7th Regiment of the Arkansas Infantry under Capt. Deason. He was with the troops stationed at Bowling Green, Kentucky, and participated in the Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee.
Thomas was a Justice of the Peace in Izard County. He was a delegate to the 1870 Constitutional Convention of Arkansas.
Thomas died November 22, 1891, at Lunenburg, in Izard County. Temperance died December 19, 1910, at Lunenburg.
