James Wallace Stanfield was born December 11, 1863, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of John A. Stanfield and Elizabeth Jane Copeland.
James was married three times. He first married Sarah F. Clay, who was born about 1867. James and Sarah had three children.
James' second marriage was to Rebecca Clay. They had no children.
James' third marriage was to Cotney Elizabeth Stanfield, a cousin, who was born in 1864. They had eight children.
Elizabeth died in 1933. James died April 29, 1941, in Hardin County, Tennessee.
