William Marion Weatherford was born October 1835, in Tennessee, probably in Hardin County. William was the son of Joseph Weatherford and Nancy (last name unknown).
William married Ruth Price in 1854. According to information provided by Margaret Weatherford, Ruth Price was only 14 years old at the time of their marriage. Ruth was from Kentucky.
Margaret Weatherford gave me the following narrative on the family: "Their home was close to the battle of Shiloh and other Civil War fighting, and they moved to Mount Vernon, Jefferson County, Illinois sometime during the war. It's interesting that they went north, though it might have just been because the south was so devastated."
Margaret continues her narrative: "Their sixth and final child, my great-grandfather James Green Weatherford, was born there in 1865, and Ruth died there in 1867 at only 27."
William married Miranda Louisa "Eliza" Cox on May 19, 1868, in Jefferson County, Illinois. William and Eliza had seven children.
By 1872 William and Eliza had moved to Randolph County, Arkansas, where Eliza died before 1892.
William then married Eliza's sister Rachel Caroline Cox Stockwell. Rachel and William had no children.
William died in 1910 and according to Margaret is buried in an unmarked grave in Shiloh Cemetery in Pocahontas, Randolph County, Arkansas.
