Zachariah "Zach" Cypert was born about 1812, in Jackson County, Illinois, the son of Jesse Newton Cypert and Jemima Worthen.
Zach married Lydia Reed on September 27, 1831, in Wayne County, Tennessee. Lydia Reed was born about 1814, the daughter of John Reed and Lydia Hollis.
Zach was a Justice of the Peace in Wayne County for many years.
The 1860 Wayne County census, 8th Civil District, shows Zachariah Cypert, 48, a farmer with $3500 real property and $4327 personal property; Lydia, 46; Robert P., 18, a farm laborer; Zachariah M., 14; Isham N., 12; Jessee L., 10; and Thomas, 4 years old.
The 1870 Wayne County census, 8th Civil District, shows Z. Cypert, 58, a farmer with $2500 real property and $1000 personal property; Lydia, 56; and Thomas B., 17, a farm laborer. Living nearby was their son William and his family.
Zach died soon after December 3, 1877, in Wayne County.
The 1880 Wayne County census shows Lydia living with her daughter and son-in-law Elzura Jane and Josiah W. Thornton and family in the 8th Civil District. Lydia was 66 years old.
