Zachariah Jason Thompson was born July 14, 1855, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of Charles Malone Thompson and Edna Paulk.
Zachariah married Mary Jesse Cypert on November 27, 1892. Mary Cypert was born December 1, 1869, in Wayne County, the daughter of Dr. Jesse Bundy Cypert and Margaret Frances Porter. Mary and Zachariah were second cousins.
Zachariah was an attorney. He also taught school in Waynesboro, Wayne County, Tennessee. He ran for the Tennessee State Legislature in 1898.
Zachariah and Mary moved to Okemah, Oklahoma, where he practiced law and taught.
Mary died November 8, 1914, at Okemah. Zachariah died October 18, 1937, at Deer Creek, Oklahoma. He and Mary are buried at Okemah.
