Charlotte Horton was born November 27, 1824, in Tennessee (possibly Scott County), the daughter of William Horton and America Cheek.
Charlotte married James Arthur Lay about 1840, possibly in Scott County, Tennessee. James Lay was born January 6, 1819, in Scott County.
Charlotte and James moved to Searcy County, Arkansas, probably between about 1880 and 1884. Several families made the move together in oxen drawn wagons.
James died at Tomahawk, in Searcy County on December 8, 1895. Charlotte died there on June 5, 1900.
