Flora Howell

Flora Howell was born December 7, 1900, at Atkins, in Pope County, Arkansas.     She was the only child of Joshua Howell and Sarah Ann Arenna "Renie" Branham.

The 1910 Conway County, Arkansas census shows Flora's family living on Germantown Road, in Welborn Township, near the present day community of Kenwood, west of Morrilton.    The census shows Josh Howell, 30, married 11 years, b. NC; Sarah R., wife, 28, m 11 yrs, had given birth to 1 child, 1 child still living; and Flora, daughter, 10 years old. 

Flora married Benjamin Franklin Ramsey in 1919, in Arkansas.     Ben Ramsey was born April 26, 1894, at Appleton, Arkansas.    He was the son of Daniel Washington Ramsey and Lara Belle (last name unknown).

 The 1920 Arkansas County, Arkansas census shows Ben Ramsey, 25, farm laborer; Flora, wife, 19; and Bob Ramsey, brother, 30, single, farmer, living in the same house with Flora's parents Josh Howell, 50, farm laborer; and Renie, wife, 39 years old.     The census was dated January 15, 1920.  

Flora died in childbirth on December 27, 1920, at Bayou Meto, in Arkansas County, Arkansas.     The infant died with her.     They are buried together in a single grave in Bayou Meto Cemetery.    Flora was only 20 years old when she died.  

In 1934, Ben Ramsey married Flora's first cousin, Della Branham, daughter of Will Branham and Gertie Gloden.
