Henry Felkins was born about 1817, in Kentucky, one of at least eight children born to William Felkins and Jane (or June) Williams. William Felkins was born about 1792, in Fauquier County, Virginia and died 1869, in Arkansas. June Williams was born about 1792. She died 1833, in Garrards County, Kentucky. William and June married May 1, 1813, in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
Henry Felkins's siblings included Anne, Elizabeth, Sarah, Harriet Jane, Artemesia, Thomas and William, Jr.
Henry married Keziah Bell Prewitt (Pruitt) on June 2, 1837, in Madison County, Kentucky. Keziah Prewitt (Pruitt) was born about 1818, in Kentucky, the daughter of John Prewitt (Pruitt) and Mary Ford.
Henry and Keziah moved to Indiana about 1839. About 1846 the family moved to Arkansas.
The 1850 Madison County, Arkansas census shows the family living in Kings River Township. The census shows Henry Felkins, 33, a farmer with $150 real property, born in Kentucky; Kisey, 32, born in Kentucky; William, 12, born in Kentucky; Nancy, 10, born in Indiana; Elizabeth, 8, born in Indiana; Thomas, 6, born in Indiana; and Mary, 2, born in Arkansas. Living with the family was Henry's brother, William Felkins, 22, a farmer with $50 real property, born in Kentucky. Living next door was Henry's sister and brother-in-law and Henry's father. The census shows East Monroe, 23, a farmer with $150 real property, born in Kentucky; Jane, 18, born in Kentucky; Mary, 1, born in Arkansas; and William Felkins, Sr., 62, born in Virginia.
The family moved to Searcy County, Arkansas prior to 1860. The 1860 Searcy County census shows the family in Tomahawk Township. The census shows Henry Felkins, 45, a house carpenter, $100 real property; Kessia, 42; Elizabeth, 18; Thomas, 15; Mary Susan, 13; John, 10; James, 8, Kesia, 6; and Lucy Ann, 1 year old.
Henry Felkins appears on the 1867 Pope County, Arkansas tax list in Dover Township and on the 1872 Pope County tax list in Allen Township. Also appearing on the 1872 Pope County tax list in Allen Township are his sons, James E. and John Felkins. Henry also appears on the 1890 Pope County tax list in Martin Township.

Martin Clinton Tarlton Ross on July 14, 1866, Pope Co, AR (they appear on the 1870 Newton Co, AR census and on the 1880 Pope Co, AR census) (an article submitted to Rootsweb by Bobby Martin says that Martin Ross and his brother Alexander Ross were tried for killing their brother-in-law, Lewis Meek in Newton Co.
