Jabez Henderson Kelley was born about 1846, in Wayne County, Tennessee, the son of John H. "Jackie" Kelley and Polina Horton.
Jabez married Mary Ann "Polly" Manuel on March 1, 1865, in Searcy County, Arkansas. Polly Manuel was born August 1, 1839, the daughter of Greenberry Manuel and Hannah Helton. Mary Ann was first married to George Norman around 1859. They had a daughter, Louisa Norman, born about 1860, in Arkansas.
The 1870 Searcy County census, Campbell Township, shows Jasper H. Kelley, 24, farmer, $350 real property, born in Tennessee; Mary A., 26, born in Tennessee; Melisa E., 4, born in Arkansas; Sarah A., 11 months, born in Arkansas; and Louisa Norman, 10, born in Arkansas.
The 1880 Searcy County census, Bear Creek Township, shows Jabez Kelly, 36; Polly, wife, 40; Emeline, daughter, 14; Sarah, daughter, 11; William, son, 7; Etta, daughter, 4; and Martha, daughter, 1 year old.
Jabez died January 12, 1898, in Searcy County. Mary Ann died April 17, 1915, in Searcy County.
