Mary Martha "Polly" Horton was born about 1823, in Tennessee, the daughter of Isaac Horton, Jr. and Mary "Polly" Watts.
Greenberry Manuel was born about 1812 in Tennessee. Greenberry was first married to Hannah Helton about 1833, in Tennessee. Hannah Helton was the daughter of James Helton and Nancy Horton. Greenberry and Hannah moved to Arkansas about 1851. Hannah died about 1853, probably in Searcy County. Greenberry and Hannah had at least 8 children.
Polly Horton married Greenberry Manuel about 1854, in Arkansas. Polly and Greenberry had three children. Polly had a son Ananias W. Horton before her marriage to Greenberry.

Manuel, 48, a farmer, $805 real property, born in Tennessee; Mary, 38, born in Tennessee; John, 25, born in Tennessee; Nancy, 17, born in Missouri; Elizabeth, 13, born in Missouri; Alexander, 12, born in Tennessee; Isaac, 10, born in Tennessee; Pierce, 7, born in Arkansas; Martha, 4, born in Arkansas; and Lucinda, 1, born in Arkansas. Living next door was Greenberry's son James Manuel, 26, a farmer, $200 real property, born in Tennessee; Perlina, 21, born in Tennessee; Columbus, 2, born in Arkansas; and Nancy, 6 months, born in Arkansas.
Greenberry died about 1864, in Searcy County and is buried in the Barren Hollow (Cypert) Cemetery in Searcy County. Polly died before 1870 and is also buried in the Barren Hollow (Cypert) Cemetery.
